A WiFi QR code replaces the laminated password card taped to the wall. It encodes your network name and password in the pattern itself, so when guests scan it their phone simply asks whether to join the network. Generate one below for free — no account needed — and print it wherever guests ask for the WiFi.
How to make a WiFi QR code
- 1
Choose the Wi-Fi type
It is already selected on this page, so you can go straight to entering your network details.
- 2
Enter your network details
Type your network name (SSID), password, and security type (WPA/WPA2 for most routers). Double-check spelling — the details must match your router exactly.
- 3
Customize the design
Pick colors, add a logo, or wrap the code in a frame with a call to action like "Scan for WiFi." Keep enough contrast so cameras can read it easily.
- 4
Download and print
Export as PNG, SVG, or PDF, test it with your own phone, and print it wherever guests need it.
One scan to join
Phones recognize WiFi QR codes natively and offer to connect on the spot. Nobody types a sixteen-character password again.
Works without internet
The network details live in the code itself, so it works even where guests have no signal yet — basements, venues, vacation rentals.
Free and yours forever
No account, no expiry, no watermark on the code. Print as many copies as you like.
Frequently asked questions
Is the WiFi QR code generator really free?+
Yes. You can generate, customize, and download a WiFi QR code without paying or creating an account, and the code never expires. It keeps working for as long as your network details stay the same.
Can I change the WiFi password after printing the QR code?+
No — and that is by design. WiFi QR codes embed the network name and password in the pattern itself so phones can join without any internet connection. If you change your password, just generate a new code here for free. Our link, PDF, and menu QR codes work differently: those are dynamic and stay editable after printing.
How do guests connect after scanning?+
They point their camera at the code and the phone shows a prompt like "Join this network?" — one tap and they are connected. This works natively on iOS 11+ and Android 10+; older devices can use any free QR scanner app.
Is it safe to put my WiFi password in a QR code?+
Treat the code like the password card it replaces: anyone who can scan it can read the network details. Post it where you would happily post the password — inside your cafe, office, or rental, not on the street-facing window — and rotate the password when you need to cut off access.
Which security type should I pick?+
Choose WPA/WPA2 unless you know otherwise — it covers almost every modern router (WPA3 networks also accept it in the prompt). WEP exists only for very old hardware, and "None" is for open networks without a password.
What should the printed sign look like?+
A short instruction works best, such as "Scan for WiFi." You can add a frame with that text directly in the generator. Print the code at least 2 x 2 cm (about 0.8 in), keep good contrast between the code and its background, and test-scan the final print with your own phone.
Generate your WiFi QR code above — free and no signup. And if you also need editable, trackable codes for links, menus, or files, they are one tab away in the same generator.
